Water-Resistant for the 6s

Just how resilient during a down pour of rain is the iPhone 6s? Right now, I keep a waterproof case handy just in case there is any precipitation. Is that necessary?
 
Not very as its not considered waterproof/water resistant. Iphone 7 or above includes the water resistance rating IP67 of up to 1 meter at 30 minutes. I wouldn't have the phone out in the open when its raining.
 
Your only waterproofing is inherited by the case.

If it doesn't have an IP rating, it's probably not going to survive even small things by itself like a trip into the toilet.

The newer ones are pretty good, people give me weird looks when I wash my iPhone XR under the sink but it's fine.

Have washed my S20 FE off more than once in the sink using water. Feels wrong, but it's fine.
