Watercooling

thermaltake has some good air cooling, but their water cooling systems really suck. generally all prebuilt water kits aren't that great. building a custom one with parts you choose will be much better, although it will cost more

I know it's a very noob question but what's the purpose of water cooling. From what i've heard you still have to put in fans and stuff. So, is water cooling just for top computers that will overheat to an extraordinary amount and need extra cooling or have I got that all wrong?

purpose of water cooling is as simple as wanting better cooling than air. water can absorb much more heat than air. instead of directly transferring heat to the air, water takes the heat away from the CPU or GPU first before a radiator dissipates the heat. most of the time when people overclock, heat is a big bottleneck and limits how much you can overclock, so water cooling is a good solution. it can still be used just for general purposes, except price is always a limiting factor. people that use a comp just for general purposes won't justify dropping a few hundred just to cool their parts.
