Hi

Im one to read oldish pc magazines for a laugh and compare todays computer hardware and technology just to see how fast things change etc. I was reading up on 3-4 year old processors and noticed theres a few different ones. I love reading what we used to think was top-notch elite hardware.

What exactly were Xeon processors? aswell as VIIV technology and Intel Extreme cpu's?

If anyone has anything else about hardware that was once considered unbeatable and blazing with speed and blistering power please post it up here :P

Thanks guys

Look back at some of the early hard drives.
I saw a magazine add about an 800mb hard drive and how great it was.

Xeon CPU's are, as far as i know, server chips, intel still make them, they have a 6 core xeon at 2.66GHz and 16Mb L3 cache now :D
Im not sure what VIIV technology is.
Intel extreme CPU's, i think have an unlock multiplier, but dont quote me on that

 holy poo man, thats well old, anyone know what year that would have out in?

Haha I have no idea. I was seriously thinking it was fake, I still do to some extent. Just to think that you would run your entire computer off of a drive which is just big enough to hold two songs nowadays.

xeon cpu's are still around, i have two sitting on my desk :D, i was going through a maximum pc from about december of last year(8800 ultra's were still on top and cost $600) and they had an article from somewhere around 2001-2002? anyway, 1ghz was a mind blowing stock speed :O
