ways ot improve performance of a nvdia geforce 6600

ya i have a geforce 6600 and i was wonderin if there was any way to improve the performance of it

the current 3d05 score for it is 2098

any ways to tweak it for the better would be greatly appreciated
:D

overclocking it would help and is prolly the only way to make the card itself faster. Try riva tuner as an overclocking utility.

Oh some drivers work better than others.

i have the nvidia drivers that cam with bf2 rite now.....

where do i get nTune and riva tuner from??

i also heard something about "coolbits" whats that?

google for either of them and you'll find very easy. go to http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp to see if all your drivers are up to date, also if u go to the 3dmark03/05 forums and ask what drivers for the 6600 gives you the best scores you'll prolly get an answere and you can use google to find that driver as well.

iv heard of coolbits but never used

coolbits would be easier to use as its self explanatory, i dont wanna insult your intelligence but it difficult to explain easily where you need to go and what you need to do for riva tuner, it took me a little while to find my way round and find the options i wanted

hey no prob. u i understand i feel that way too when explaining seemingly easy concepts to people who struggle with it. Its cool

thanks for the help...i will try coolbits

EDIT:
ok bout 1 min later coolbits was added to the reg. or whateveris that all i gotta do

I tried coolbits on my MX4000 :P It worked very well, Halo ran much smoother and was easy to use. I don't currently overclock though, as my card tends to get very hot with a generic heatsink and no fan.

well i ran 3d05

i got a 2093!!!!! a 4 point increase.....[sarcasm/]
ok so did i do the coolbits thing right, seroiusly, cause 4 points is nothing

i mean i just ran the coolbits icon and it added somthing to the registry
was that all that i had to do??

You need to right click the desktop- properties- settings- advanced- click your video card. There will be a new "clock frequency settings" in the list. You will THEN begin to overclock, and move the bars up about 10 MHz at a time, test, and you should be on your way :)

I suggest you read the OC'ing 101 before you do anything.

or if you wanna make it really easy you could just get the clock settings tab to detect the "best" frequency. you can push a little beyond the settings they give but its a good place to start

ok i read oc 101

it dint really cover oc'ing graphics card though

im wonderin how i know when to stop and if i have to do anything special with my power supply

unless you're going into voltmodding (which i dont think you will) there's nothing else to worry about except the clock speeds

alright its done

i oc'ed i
core clock is at 411
memory clock is at 615

my new 3d05 mark.......drumrolllllll

2591

a 500 point increase
i owe u guys..thanks for all the help

now i just need a screenshot program and a program to monitor computer components temperatures

ohh and if ur wonderin my cpu score was 5070

:) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)
