It doesn't look like it will do that, I don't think any really can. It seems to be meant for sharing files from either a NAS, home server, or DLNA capable device like some smartphones. It only supports a handful of video formats as well.
I thought you were looking to play DVD's to your WD TV? The WD TV has no problem streaming movies from a computer (which is what the article you linked to is about), but I don't believe you can stream DVD's.
thanks WRX you heard about the Roku and if its any good, i know it doesnt support the dlna feature or the play to function but you can get "Plex" to stream from your windows to your tv
