Weak Wireless Signal

I bought a "D-Link RangeBooster USB Adapter" because the wireless signal where I am at is "very low". I'm 150' away from the router and it's in a basement. When it came time to install the CD I started having second thoughts because the new software wants me to uninstall any of the other wireless networking programs. Will I gain enough with the new Adapter to get better signal to make this worth it?

It just wants to use its own wireless utility. I highly doubt you'll get better signal quality since you are that far away from the router using a usb adatper. You really need something that has an antenna. Is this for a laptop or a desktop?

You shouldn't have to install any software, just install the drivers. Insert the CD and install the wireless card, but exit the software installation and just have Windows browse the CD for the drivers.

Hi, John. It's for a Dell Vostro 15000 laptop. Is there a connection on the back of the router where I could add an external antenna?

I meant the adapter should have an antenna, but its good to have the router have antennae as well, especially being that far away.
