I have a Hp DV8000 Laptop that i recently reloaded windows, but after a complete format and reinstallation of a fresh copy of windows and all proper drivers installed i can not view any websites. The Computer gets an ip from the reouter and i can sign into the router but when i try to go to any website like google it acts like there is no internet. I go to command prompt and Ping google and nothing. If i ping google's Server ip it communicates. If i go to the IE& web browser and type in the google serverip the website comes up.
WTF I can not figure this thing out and i am going crazy. Please if anyone has had this problem and found a way to resolve it please give me some tips to try, Because i am stumped.
I have reloaded windows three times, Exported all the regestry entrys and dll's from another computer to replace the entire application and still the same problem.

My Problem is My IE7 will not go to a website by its domain name and only by the server IP.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Try this:

Unplug your modem & router's power source for 1 minute, plug your modem back in. Then, after your modem is fully booted up, plug your router back in, reboot your computer and see if that solves the issue. If not, try the following:

Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Command Prompt (if on Vista, right click and Run As Administrator) -> Type the following:

C:\>ipconfig /flushdns

You should then get the following message:

Successfully flushed the DNS Resolver Cache.

Then type the following:

C:\>ipconfig /renew

Then, once completed successfully, reboot your laptop and try again.

Let us know if this helps.

You can accomplish the DNS flush and ip renew and a whole lot more by Right Clicking the Network Icon in the System Tray and selecting Reapir.

I guess I could have no0bed it up more. I'm used to using command prompt to repair my networking issues, because I (like a lot of people) disabled the system tray icon for networking.

It works perfectly, I can finally go to web domain through my web browser. Thnak you so much. You Rock!!!

Glad to see it's working :)
