Web page help!

I'm trying to create my own web page. I started using Microsoft Frontpage a while ago (Back when I had XP) and everything was fine. Now this Vista thing and since Microsoft Office is new, there isn't Frontpage there is Publisher. I can't for the life of me figure it out correctly.

So my actual questions are:

1. Is there ANY way to get sites to load the publisher?
2. Is there anyone that will host my site for cheap?
3. Can I still make it in publisher and have them host it?


Any other suggestions/advice will be great appreciated.

1. Download NVU, an open source Web Design Software "system to rival FrontPage and Dreamweaver." Absolutely free to use.

Also available for free, and by the screenshots I think it looks a little better, there is Amaya Web Editor.

2. You get what you pay for. With free hosts, you will either experience invasive advertising banners, or downtime where you website is offline because another website is clogging all the server resources.

Unless you have a virtual private server, or dedicated server, the status of your website will not be guaranteed. A VPS starts at $20 a month.

You might also be able to find a reputable shared hosting service for $10 a month, but you will have to do a lot of research on website forums. Many hosting services seem reputable, but once you are a customer, you will be disappointed in more ways then one. For example, a contract that renews itself, a website uptime of 70% or less, really small allocation of memory and CPU for your website.

3. A website can be made in any program, and uploaded to any server, as long as you have the login details for that server. If the Web Editing software does not have an automatic uploader, download Filezilla, a free FTP client, and manually upload your website after changing the files.

The details you need to upload files to a server are: server FTP address, your account username and password. Once you log in to your server using FileZilla, you simply select a file, click Upload, and then it appears on your website.

As far as software for website design, you're best bet would be to bite the bullet and obtain Dreamweaver CS4.
Not only would you be learning on easiest web design software out there but it's also the most professional and widely used software in the world.
If you have any questions on a project you're working on, you'll be able to get help and support from 10 million different sources.

As far as web hosting goes, there's no hosting service than DotEasy.

Unless your site needs use of CGI scripts, databases, etc., the price will stay at $0.00/month. I have a handful of sites with them. A couple cost me $7.95 a month for their more technical packages but a lot of the sites I have are on their free hosting package.

I use Microsoft Expression Web 1.0 which replaced frontpage. Its as easy as frontpage but lots more features. Theres a new version out but i have not tried it yet.

I recommend that you never register your domain with a hosting company. When you refuse to renew with their hosting, they will steal your domain, and you lose all your existing traffic.

I use DynaDot to register domain names. It's only $9.25 a year, you don't need to buy multiple years to get a good price. The great thing about DynaDot is they accept PayPal. And whenever I register a domain with them, it is up immediately - most domain registers make you wait up to 24 hours for your domain to appear.

As someone mentioned in another thread, there is also co.cc which will give you a good looking, ad-free, subdomain name. As for free hosting, I recommend AwardSpace - banner free, they allow php, they give you mysql, and you can even use a domain on the free account. It's the last free host I used before paying for hosting.
