web page text problem

Hello;
I have a dell inspiron b130 laptop computer. I am connected to the internet by a wireless router and through a cable optimun service. I have a question as to why the text on the web pages that I connect to don't seem to spread across the entire screen of my laptop. It looks like it is centered in the web page but the ends of the screen are empty(it doesn't spread the text over the entire availiable area. The size of the screen is 14".it probrably uses only 10" or less of that availiable space. I have tried changing the size of the text as well as using the "max" button in the upper right of the display. but that only changes the WEB page "FRAME" not the text within the border. I even used a routine offered by dell and the options on the view menu. But nothing worked. I noticed that only the Dell text pages are working ok.
Am I missing something or is this just a web standard size page size use for a laptop based on a different formula for determining the size?

Do you have another solution

I don't have a portable mouse for the laptop. I have a built in mouse below the keyboard that controls the cursor by rubbing the surface with you index finger. Can I use this type of mouse to fix the problem?

you can try holding ctrl and using the touch pad but im not sure if it would work try there is now harm in trying!

Laptop and desktop layout should be the same. Have you tried other websites to see if their layout is ok? Such as, Yahoo or Google?
