Web Remote Desktop

Hi, i created a Web Remote Desktop Connection and it was working fine and i was happily logging on to my computer from friends computers and just yesterday it decided to tell me "Access Denied" i have tried everything change of IP, change of Port, etc.
The day before however i did change my password to log on to my pc which is when it decided not to work. I have changed my password back to the oringinal though and still it does not want to work!
does anyone have any idea what the problem could be?

Thanks Sam

I'd first check to make sure any firewalls that might be in place have port 3389 forwarded to the remote machine, i.e. Windows firewall or a NAT. Also, check your friends machine to make sure Windows firewall isn't blocking outbound connections for Remote Desktop. If it's giving you an Access Denied error, that usually means that the account you are trying to login with doesn't have the proper credentials to logon remotely. To check and see if the account has remote access privileges, follow these steps:

1. Right click My Computer, click properties
2. Click the Remote tab
3. Make sure the allow users to connect remotely check box is checked
3. Then click the select remote users button

This box lists all the users that have access to logon remotely. If you have an administrator account, then by default you should have access. It will also say below the list if your logon has access. Are you able to get to the logon screen of the remote computer or is it not connecting at all?

Thanks, but i turned my Firewall off and all the users are correct i have the admin user and a test user able to use remote and it has worked fine since i changed the admin password. So i was thinking that this could have perhaps caused the problem? or could it be an IP problem or a port problem (I am using port 1374) i don't know my IP at the moment as i am not at home!

Thanks Sam

It's probably an IP and or port problem. I'd try giving port 3389 a shot since it is the default port for RDP. But if it has worked in the past then I don't see why that would be a problem unless your ISP got the sudden urge to block a specific port range. Also when you going to connect to the machine, make sure you are specifing the correct port because by default remote desktop uses port 3389. Ex: 1.1.1.1:1374.

Also, I use no-ip.com as my dynamic DNS service so I don't have to remember my public IP. There is also dyndns.com if you want to give them a look.

Changing the admins password would only have an effect if you were not able to logon to the machine once the the RDP session is established and you know the password so...it's either a port or IP problem.
