Webportal? Pleaes help?

I don't know if you would call it a web portal... But how would u make it so in order to use the internet on a LAN connection, you would have to go through a server or something with a web browser, and no matter what website you would goto, it will always direct you to a username a password screen. I saw this done at a motel once and i would like to have that on my network...

well i dunno the alternate method but here in the office we use SQUIDCACHE PROXY SERVER with WEBMIN running on linux
