Webshots for pictures and issues

I bought this years ago. Life time membership. My wife wanted to download pictures for the desktop. It was life time mind ya. It slipped through the cracks. BUT about 10 yrs ago they upgraded the site. Said i have to buy again. Gave me a one year subscription because of when i bought it. Said they updated the site. Not used much, but retired and the site is still up. How do i handle it. I don't see it going to small claims court. Any thoughts on what to say. I figure i could beat this one. I did buy a lifetime membership.

The change in conditions was 10 years ago but you took no action at that time? That will not weigh well in your favour. If you did not decline the one-year membership and re-state your position back then, they will say you accepted by default. You probably don't have a copy of the original agreement. That would decide your legal position.

"Life memberships" seem to have been a minefield over the past 20 years. As companies fail they promise such terms to grab money to stay afloat. They know that if they go out of business, it's tough luck for the customer.

Webshots is quite a well-run site so they may be astute with their legal side. 10 years ago, perhaps not. If you have the original agreement, go through it to see what they promised. It could go to small claims court but anything more than that would be futile. It's no skin off their back to let you continue as members. You are not going to re-join a bunch of thieves(?) so they are not going to see more money regardless.

There are plenty of other places to get images free, although Webshots is excellent.
 
Your right. BUT the one year free subscription was not a contract. They just gave it to me because i was a long time member. They wanted me to buy another life time membership. Maybe i will follow up more. just write them and see what they say. love to play the game. Yes there are plenty of free sites for wallpaper.
 
I keep all receipts from the internet in a special folder. Everything. thats what i do. Just makes me mad to say before i had to buy a new life membership. its a minor. just something i do.
