Website Blocker

Hey All,

Looking for information on programs (preferably free) that can block access to specified websites when NOT going through a server. i.e. if using at home, or away from the office.

Can anyone recommend anything?

Its not banners im trying to block, its websites such as games or MP3s!

It breaks my heart to put these things in place, but the boss wants it done, and he pays the wages!

Web filters like websense cost money and are the best out there. If you have a decent router you can manually put in tons of websites in the QoS > Access Restrictions section.

The one I linked to should do just fine for any website, banners or not.

From my understanding that doesn't actually block access to the site, it just redirects an IP or domain name to the local host 127.0.0.1.

I guess technically that would work, but like I said earlier, if you have a decent router just do it that way. I am sure that any kind of software loaded on a machine can be exploited pretty easily, and it wouldn't block proxy surfing at all.
