Website problems, any advice?

I have built a website at 81x.com, I have a free site but they also have paid sites.

For the last two weeks it has been down over 90% of the time when I go to it, not just my site, the entire 81x.com site. The entire 81x.com site will sometimes come up when I use IE but if I use Mozilla it states "81x.com could not be found"

Why would it come up on IE but not Mozilla? Is it my computer? My browser? Why would it come up sometimes but not others? I do nothing different.

It is also down on IE over 90% of the time just ocassionally will it come up with IE but not with Mozilla. Literally over 90% of the time, I check 5 times am + 5 times pm =10 times a day x 14 days= 140 I have only been able to access the site about 10 times in the last two weeks.

Is a company with paid sites really taking money then going down over 90% of the time? Or is it just that I am the only one that can not get the site to come up? If it is my browsers why do I get the site sometimes but not other times? Do you think they are going under? Bankrupt? Out of business? Updating their site? There is no information on the site at all about any problems?

Is this to be expected with a website on the internet? Having a paid site that is down over 90% of the time? Should I build another site somewhere else? Has anyone here ever had a site with 81x.com? Ever heard anything about them? I love the site I built, but going down 90% of the time is absurd!

Well just go to another compagny ... :P

Im sure that they would repay the downtime to the ones who actually paid.

Do they really refund everyone's money? Or are you just kidding? I would think the lost revenue to a business with a paid site would be staggering.

I wanted to upgrade to a paid site there, but down 90% of the time, thats ridiculus.

Are other sites just as bad though? It took two months to build my site and I spent over $600 advertising the webaddress. I really really do not want to take two more months and another $600 advertiseing a different site that will not load when people try to view it.

Oh and I have no idea how to actually build a website, 81x.com was done only my uploading my photos, typing in text and dragging a mouse around. So I am really limited as to where I could go that would be as simple.

Seriously do you think it may be me? My browser or my computer? I do not have any problems going to other sites though. I am just stunned, do things like this happen all the time on the internet?

Did you bought a domain name?

No i wasn't kidding about the refund... If they're serious enough they will reapy the downtime. It's part of the contract that ypu sign when you pay..

Is a domain name the actual name of the website?

I did not purchase anything, as I have never had a website before and I was not sure what to do. My site is just the 81x.com - then what I named it.

I wanted to upgrade to a paid site because I would get more pages. I am afraid to move everything to another site and have the same problems.

I understand going down a couple of hours or even 24 hours if there is a problem or maybe an upgrade or something. But there is nothing on the intro 81x.com site about any problem or upgrade, nothing.

It was up a couple of hours this morning with IE, not Firefox. But now when I use IE to go to 81x.com it comes up "http 501 not implemented" ERROR 501/505

I am confused by what is happening with this site.

This morning I used IE and the site came up for about four hours reliably. It did not come up with Firefox at all this morning.

This evening I used IE and the site will not come up at all. BUT now when I use Firefox the site comes up.

Can anyone explain why this is happening?

Does this mean something? Like are they updating the site? Are the browsers not able to find the site for some reason. Why would this be happening? Are they just a horrible internet company that I chose? Will it always be like this do you think?

I know it is not my computer or my browsers because other people are checking the site and are experiencing the same thing.

Well you might change host...

If it's not just you, that means it's not your ISP and it's just the website.
Seriously, there are tons of free host and even more paid hosts....

Thank you for your advice, I can't find any reason the site would be down 90% of the time. Yep still down all day today too, up for only about two hours this morning. Aparently 81x.com is just a rip off, good thing I did not pay for a site. What a disapointing way to learn about the internet. I feel sorry for anyone who paid and set up a business site with them.

I signed up with another free site that I can upgrade to a paid site and can get a domain name from. Hopefully this will work out.
