Im wondering if this happens to anyone else...
I have my account set to remember me. When i first navigate to computerforum.com Im not logged in. Once I click a board (by this i mean like desktop computers, laptop computers etc.) it goes to the page and Im logged in fine. Also, if I then click the link back to the main page, i remained logged in. Just seems weird that Im not logged in when I first navigate to the board.

Just wondering if this happens to anyone else.

BTW I use firefox. (Off topic: you should too. But dont reply to that part.)

There is a difference if you go to computerforum.com as opposed to www.computerforum.com

Which does your link go to?

weird, i never realized that could affect it. i never use www. Im the type of guy who gets annoyed when theyre watching someone use the computer and they use www.

I always go to computerforum.com (no www). When I went to www.computerforum.com it worked.

Is it normal for pages to act like this if you leave out www? should i start using www?

I have the exact same thing. I always wondered why I would never appear logged in on the main page. Well I am going to remake my bookmark!

When you log in first and tell it to remeber you the site saves a cookie on your machine to whichever domain you're currently at... The way the cookies work is "computerforum.com" and "www.computerforum.com" are completely different, they are not the same site according to the cookie. So yes, the cookie will log you in, but only if you are at the same domain you were at when you told it to remember you (most probably www.computerforum.com)

To clear up the other part of it (why would it log you in when you click on one of the sub-forums) all internal links have the prefix of "www." which would means you are all of a sudden at the correct domain and instantly logged in...

Confusing? A bit
Logical? Yes

Yep, sometimes people don't realise that WWW is just another domain prefix, and if you really wanted you could not register it when you registered a domain name. Example:

freesmsmate.com.au

Should take you to a completely different page from:

www.freesmsmate.com.au
