Ok, this is pretty weird but my friend wanted me to look at his Dell and it actually has a normal ATX PSU.... I've always heard they were different.....

In the last year and a half or so Dell started using standard pinouts on all their machines.

Oh it's been much longer than just a year and a half... I had to work on some old GX150's(pentium 3's) and they used standard pinouts.

More than a year and a half for all Dell Machines? Maybe 2 years but I'm fairly certain that some of their models used nonstandard pinouts before that.

I remember some 486 models I had used what appeared to be an ATX power supply, but I never tried to see if it'd fix/work in other motherboards, or visversa.

I gotta tell you though, Dells are definitely made weird..... The case sort of rolls out when you open it, the CPU has a passive heatsink that has tube-thingy that leads towards the rear exhaust fan and the case has absolutely no ventilation at all so I don't know where the air come from that cools the heatsink....
