I've bought a Toshiba L500 almost four years ago. About a year and a half ago my laptop's monitor started to turn itself off randomly. It was rare at first, but after some time it was quite often and finally it rarely did turn on (or rather - it always turned on for a second or less and then went out). The thing is, it turned itself off only when I was turning on the PC, it never went out if it was turned on for longer than a minute. When I have PC turned on for a longer period of time and switch it off for a short period (so it's still hot) and then back on, monitor almost always works fine too. Moreover, when it "turned off", you actually could see the matrix working, it displayed everything fine, there was just no backlight. For some time I used an external monitor, when it was nearly impossible to use the built-in one, but later I replaced in the laptop's monitor a backlight and an inventer. It worked fine for about three months and the same stuff happened again. Sometime after I replaced them again, but it did not help at all and I've had the same issue. Then I replaced a monitor cable in the laptop, it did not help either. My monitor still has the problem of turning off and I need to close and open laptop's lid from a few to dozens of times every time I switch it on until the monitor finally works.
What could be broken? I'm almost certain it's not a cable/inventer/backlight, since all of them were replaced and it did not help. I doubt the issue lies with the matrix, it seems to be working fine. Then, it sounds to me unlikely that it's a motherboard problem. But that rules out pretty much everything and clearly one part is damaged. Is there anyone that has a clue what could possibly be wrong?
