Weird motherboard - not working

Recently installed Windows XP MCE, and before, when running Windows XP Home Edition, the edition that came with the PC, it worked fine, though now, testing the motherboard, different programs does not find it, and my sound is not working either.

The Device Manager says that both my motherboard and my sound is working properly, though it isn't

Driving me nuts :(

Can someone help me? If you need any technical information, just say so. I'll bring it to you :)
Thanks..

It sounds like you havent installed the motherboard drivers,
when you say (when running Windows XP Home Edition, the edition that came with the PC, it worked fine,) do you mean a recovery cd or do you mean you never had to use it so it was working fine when you got the pc?
the reason i ask is because if its a recovery cd all the motherboard drivers will be on the cd and installed with the o/s system, so if you have bought the other o/s then you will have to look for the drivers for the motherboard on the net or possible explore the original windows cd and get them from that.

Most onboard devices should be recognise by XP and their generic drivers automatically installed, in the event that its not, then I suggest you pop the original motherboard cd into your driver or navigate to the manufacturer's website and get yourself a copy. It seems to me to be a software problem instead of a hardware one, which is good news.
