weird noise

for the past two weeks my laptop has been making some weird noises. it makes a weird vibrating noise thn it turns off but if i tapp it a little bit before it turns off the sound goes away and nothing happens. the sounds comes from either the memory compartment or the hard drive. they are right next to each other. what could be the problem?
 
It could be the hard disk.If you have a warranty it would be better to return the laptop to the shop you bought it from,so they can check if something is wrong.
 
the laptop is about three years old but the hard drive was recently replaced by me. the laptop is a compaq evo n610c.p4 mobile 1.80ghz 1 gig ram, 60gig hd toshiba. 2 month old hard drive. i cant get a replacement hard drive because i am overseas. i wont be back in the states until christmas.
 
if you can tap it to make it go away maybe something is a bit loose, try taking the hard drive completely out and putting it back in while making sure all screws are tight. If that doesn't solve your problem it could be something going wrong within the hard drive, or it could be an intake fan somewhere too. You never know
