I changed the motherboard on a friends pc because the vga wasnt working, but upon putting the other board in it never powered up, i put the old board back in, and it powered up, then i tried it with the other board and it powered up before i even plugged the power button in, i dont have any details for the motherboards other than the new one is a AMD Athlon 700 i think any help will be greatly appreciated.

why would you be giving it power before everything's hooked up? What is the problem with the new board, does it not work or does it just like to turn on? You've tried it with the power button plugged in I assume, does it do nothing?

i was testing to see where the power button worked because i dont have the manual, it wasnt working on the pw jumpers so i was testing all of them, and it switched on when i put the plug in

This is not a good thing you should always have a manual and you should never be putting a computer together with the power running to it.

You may have fried the motherboard.. :/ (or other pieces if you keep trying to hook up jumpers all diffrent ways)
