Hey guys,

So the other day my ISP sent me a new cable modem to update the old one. They told me that I did not have to return the old one so I decided to keep it and not throw it out. I was speaking to someone the other day about it and they were telling me that there are tons of cool things (some illegal) that I can do with my old modem. He told me to go online and find out the specifics but there ar4e certainly a number of things. Can someone let me know about these please?

i dont think the moderators will tolerate this stuff. most of us dont have a big problem with it tho..
 
its not worth trying anything illegal the modem will have a mac adress on it that can be traced so if i was you i would put it away just incase they want it back, anyway asking advice on anything that could be illegal on this forum will not be tollerated and ultimately the thread will be closed!
 
The MAC address part will keep you offline. You can't do much with it anyway. Otherwise people would just buy a new one and hack it. I won't say how but the only hack I ever saw of any value is to change your speed cap.

Google can be your friend, But don't expect much. There is only so much you can do with it and it is not worth the time to mess with, so like meanman said, just put it away!
