weird xp network problem

Hi!

I have a Speedstream 6250 modem/router.

I want to use a static ip, so I could do port forwarding for vncs and torrents.

But as I followed the static ip guide from portforward.com it should be okay.

When I type ipconfig /all, the dns servers are the same:

My ip address is 70.xxx, etc

Could someone try to enlighten me?

Im not sure what your on about. Your local ip is 192.168.2.10 and your dns servers have been allocated as your routers ip. When you set the static ip up did you set yourself your own DNS servers or did you just leave it as automatically configure? if you go on your config page for your router and then go on WAN setup it should tell you your external DNS servers then, you can use those when setting yourself up with a static ip.
