well what is the crappest MotherBOard, and Cpu i can buy nowadays.

i mean litterally CRAP.

its going to be stuck on my wall, hehe

i was looking at p1 processors but they look to good.

dont ask why i want to do this, also i wanna show a cross section of a cpu in my ICT coursework

any CRAP suggestions.

Hehe

The best thing to do would be to get an old mobo from somewhere. Maybe ask an IT guy at school?

JAN :D

Do you want the parts to work and/or be able to run programs? I think a Pentium/Pentum Pro would be perfect, and add about 16MB of RAM, 4GB Hard Drive, ect. You can get really cheap old parts at www.hcditrading.com

i wasn't thinking of having run programs, but to cut them in half,

and the pentium pro seems a bit good,

basically whats the worst poorsessor i can get, i mean a really really really acient one,

got a recycling centre in your area?

pop down there, find that lots of people will dump old computers at them that aint worth selling, can find all sorts. Wouldnt be too hard to find an old 8086 or 80286 processor im sure

Jeez, I got a second-hand PC shop here that charges $20 for used bare 100MHz Pentium I CPUs, and $30 for used 4GB hard drives! And Christian wants to cut 'em up?? :o
Tom

well what else will they be used for, they carn't run any programs that are useful in todays world, and soon the'll become "buy one get one free, for 20p."

that store needs to come down on their prices a bit. you can get a brand new 20gb hard drive for 30 bucks

they can be very useful, i know people that are using extremely low end pc's, with 3-4gb drives in them as servers for IRC.

Like i say though, lots of people throw out computers so check out recycling centres or such for old ones

I can sell you a K7S5A moterboard, its for Socket A CPU's. 10$ This was my FAVORITE baord back in the day, worked great, great bios, nice layout, had BOTH DDR, AND SD ram, so it made it the perfect uprgraders board. I used to have 4 of theses.

True, but they sell all they get their hands on. Go figure.

My backup box is a P1@133MHz, with Win95. I can run Netscape 7.0, IE 5.5, Paint Shop Pro, MS Works 6, ZoneAlarmFree... it's slow, but as a backup machine, it's fine. I wouldn't dream of getting rid of it.
There's still a lot o' life left in those old boxes. :D

Or a brand new 80GB SATAII on newegg for $44.

That site i showed you actually sells really cheap processors for only $1-$2.

Most cities have an electronic recycling program...look it up, find a location and im sure you'll find an old computer to raid from. ;)

My mom used an origanal Pentium 1, I think 16 or 32 MB Ram, and about a 2.5GB hard drive. Strictly for business, only runs Simply Accounting..shes had it for over 7 or 8 years and it still works perfect.
