I was given a Verizon DSL Westell DSL Router Modem combo. I Don't have Verizon DSL but I was wondering if there was any way I could use it as a switch/hub or as a router by plugging in my cable modem to it. Let me know if there is anyway this can be done. Thanks in advance.

Cable doesn't use the same technology as DSL so probably not. For performance reasons you should just get a new router, they are fairly cheap.

If your cable modem gives out private addresses meaning it does network address translation you can use it. Turn off DHCP on the westell modem then connect your cable modem to one of the switch ports. Anything that connects to the westell modem will get an address from the cable modem and should be able to connect to the internet. It's pretty much the same as plugging your cable modem directly into any switch, you just have a wireless acccess point in your switch. Should work just fine.
