And i dont mean work and then stop working..... i mean work like my g4 ti has for all these years.....

My PSU is 269.9 watt max.

I did think of the x700 pro (256mb), but its way more powerful than the earlier series, so i would think it uses more power..... But, it hasnt got a molex connecter..... anyone care to check up on this please?

Here are 2 cards i was looking at:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos...32509/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1_1/026-6722625-4146858

Here are my current specs:

Athlon xp 2.0ghz 2400+
1024mb RAM
Geforce 4 Ti 4200 64mb

Some members here have said the 9600 series, but if i could get something more fast for a few more pounds, then so be it.
Thanks.

the 9600XT should score around 1800 in 3dmark05 (OC'ed i think), i dont know about X700 but i know that X700 pro scores around 2600 (OC'ed), choose whatever you want, you won't make a mistake

But would it work with my psu without it crashing or breaking my psu?

im sure that 9600XT will work, my 9550 with 9600XT gpu worked fine on my 300W codegen PSU, i dont know about X700

hey, in my dell 4600 i had a 250 watt psu and i had a ati readeon 9800 pro 128mb which is a great card. now i have the ati x1800 xt but in 3dmark05 i got 2500+ for the score and i had only a 2.66 ghz cpu and 512mb of ram. id say u could get well over 2800 with ur setup. if u want i can sell it to you through paypal. my email is [email protected]. its a very very good card.

Would it be possible for you to buy another psu? You can get one that is 10x better than yours for like 20 bucks.

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1648064&Sku=TC3J-1048 450 watt for 20 bucks

well, i think it doesnt matter that much, just contact me by email and then computerforum.com has nothing to do with our business selling any products.

yea get a new power supply, i'd say that'd be your best bet.
269.9 watt's isnt even enough to barely run a 9800pro (if that)
and 9800pro is an OLD CARD.. i used to have one i miss the little bugger (NOT! 7800gt for the win!)

im sorry fade u must have not read my other replies, I HAD a 9800 128MB running on a 250 watt dell psu working perfectly.

a 9800pro isn't worth buying for agp, nor is its counterpart the 6600gt. they overprice AGP cards that way more people upgrade their motherboards as well as their video cards, and even their processor too.

its not worth buying an agp card at all in my opinion especially since the interface is much slower.
