So I want to build a external harddrive for my latop to hold Itunes, and my server I use to d.l music for. I was thinking and was told it better to get a internal drive and get a external casing and do that cause the internal drives are better then the external. So If I bought a internal drive what else is needed?

What harddrive gb would be needed you think? Atleast 1000 songs will be on it.
 
External hard drives that you buy at the store have regular internal hard drives too...

While it may be slightly cheaper and that you can get a slightly better drive if you buy the internal, it's usually the cheap external enclosures that either look bad, are larger then necessary, and many cheap ones just don't perform well.

I would recommend buying an external hard drive, it's usually the same price or cheaper then when you factor in the cost of getting an external enclosure.
 
What size drive do you recommend then for someone who will be putting Itunes on it with over 1000 songs, and the server they d.l from?

1,000 songs would be around 4-6GB. I would personally get anything higher then 160GB.
