Well i'm new here and my question is, what are Mhz?

I've googled it and all i get is that it means a million clock ticks per second (or something around that). That's pretty straightforward but what does it mean?

By 800mhz does it mean 800millions lines of code are prosesed or 800million pixels or just 800million piecies of binary code?

megahertz.... is that what you wanted? to know what it stood for?

Does it sound like that's what he wanted?

Honestly, I don't know. I believe it's 800million calculations though, which would be like processing 800million bytes(or bits)

"Hertz" are the measurement of frequency in cycles per second. One Hertz is one cycle per second.

Replace cycle with process and you get your processor! Mega simply means one million, so 800MHz is 800 million processes per second.

Most computers have a processor of around 2-2.5GHz now, which is 2-2.5 BILLION processes per second. The higher the better ;)

So, if we took all the different brands out of the equation, a 2.2GHz processor is better than a 2000MHz processor! I know it is confusing, but all of us will happily help you if you get lost. If you are stuck with any term, JUST ASK!

No, a 2.2GHz processor is a 2200MHz processor, not 200,000MHz

Excuse me? I do laugh, i just don't have an appreciation for stupidity.

iam leaving this little thread, it was an obvious misread

bop beep boop

Whoops, bad mistake there ;P Better edit that (I get carried away with zeros, I'm seeing a therapist but he isn't helping).

I hope you know when I am being ficicious (or however you spell it, argh!)

lol

See look! I laughed!

There's nothing wrong with misreading something, as long as you realize that you did it. What is wrong, is insulting. And don't try to say it was my fault.

Anyway....back on topic.

lol see, i can do it to.
doesnt mean iam laughing, actually i wasnt i just typed L-O-L.

So... How to be a knob, CF style.

"You're not laughing"

"Yes I am"

"I'm leaving now"

"Ok, maybe I'm not".

lol (are we going to sit here and analyze whether I was laughing or not while we're at it?)

I think this question was answered adequately. I don't know why in every thread 5 people have to repeat the same answer.
