What are "Palit" like?

Looked for the cheapest 9800GT I could find on Scan and it's by a company called Palit.

£83 for it :)

Anyone got any experiences with them or know if they are a decent company?

palit is a popular company because they often put 1gb of memory on 512mb cards. they use standard pcb boards though, so the quality should be no different from an eVGA or ASUS.

don't get an 9800gt, though, unless it is cheaper than the 8800gt, and palit is common in europe/asia from what i've heard

Except for the Lifetime Warranty offered by eVGA, XFX, etc.

He is right....Palit is a very popular brand here in Germany. I have a few friends that are running them and they love them. Great cards for the price. Before you buy one I would look into the customer support options where you live at. Here in Germany they also have a lifetime warranty that the seller honors. So if anything happens to it, just return it where you bought it. Overall they seem like really good cards.

12 month warranty. Should be fine.

Another quick question. Are 9800GT's actually any better than 8800GT's? This card is cheaper than any 8800GT out there and most of the other branded 9800GT's are cheaper too. I would of thought they would be atleast a bit more futureproof.

yea get the 8800gt its practically no different as far as architecture, and performance isn't a whole lot better for the money on the 9800 series.

if you want real quality, go ATI though, their cards handle the higher settings better. nvidia just goes for fps.
