What are safe hard disk temps?

I have 2 Western Digital 400gb hard drives and I was just wondering what temps they are rated for to keep them safe...

Thanks

Because today was pretty hot and I just opened pc wizard to check it out and my cpu (on a good day is at like 25) was at 35 and my hard drives were at 40 and 41 and I didn't know if that was unsafe... My 120mm intake fan is directly in front of them but its all just cuz it was so hot today.

Also dependant on what you had been doing, IE writing and reading alot to the HDD's etc which obviosuly increase HDD temps.

yea but basically seeing them above 40 isn't good and whats like the cut off point like theres a chance they get messed up at... 50?

Hard to say to be hones,I would guess around the 50+'s, but sure its dependant on manufactures etc. Best way is just place your hand on top of the HDD and feel how hot it is, as i wouldnt really rely on software to detect temps.

If untouchable or if you put hand on it and then have to move it away, then yes too hot and likely drive will start to fail.
