The OP is asking for a gaming computer for 200-300 pounds which is about US$300-450. How do you build a gaming computer for that?

It can be done. You don't need the best to play every game. A 4870 and Celeron G530 will play BF3 on medium just fine. A GTX260 could do the same. Used parts are your best friend if you are on a limited budget.

Most def. If you are on that tight of a budget, head over to ebay and have a look around. You can find good performing video cards for $25-$50. You always take the risk of it not working, but hey.

Ebay provides a bit if a buffer. Just make sure the seller provides DOA insurance/returns and you are fine. I have bought a bunch of parts on there, and none have had an issue with returning them when they arrived not working. But again, you need to make sure its not As Is as in that case if its DOA your SOL.

If you have gaming consoles, and you want to switch to PC, just sell your console for cheap to give you some extra cash to work with. If you have a heap of games, sell some of those first. Or you could sell the whole lot, that would net you a serious increase in cash which will translate really well to what sort of games you can play with high framerates and looking good.

If not, I suggest you save more cash. Another 100 pounds would go very far.

2GB of RAM wont be a very good gaming PC. He would need at least 4GB to game comfortably with an 8800 Ultra. Worth the extra $5 or whatever.

Other than that, that build looks ok.
