apj101 VIP Member Sep 28, 2006 #2 M2 is the old name for AM2 AM2 is a socket type, not a processor type One processor type (eg AMD X2) can be made is mulitple sockets You need to match a motherboard that HAS an AM2 socket wih a CPU that IS an AM2 socket
