What can bad memory cause?

can bad memory cause a pc from not even turning on at all? also while a pc is on, can the memory cause usb ports to fail before the memory finally fails itself?

bad memory wouldn't cause a system to fail. it would cause general instability, corruption of data, program crashes and lockups.

if other parts of the system start failing it could mean that there is a more serious problem with your system rather than just bad memory; maybe a failing motherboard.

well i just took out the memory and i went to power on and the poer button blinked yellow and there was a low noise sound comming. so i interchanged the ram in the 2 different slots as well as changed the different ram and sometimes the power button blinked yellow and sometimes it didn't do anything, but it never did power up......what could cause this??

how would it boot up if it had no memory?? if the ram is bad i dont think it would boot up unless he has another good stick in another slot.

i had bad memory in my system for a little while, my system would boot ok but it would tend to crash a lot.

im guessing that there is a problem with your motherboard.

what are your system specs? that would be helpful

bad memory can manifest itself in all sorts of issues, including failure to boot/post, or increased crashing

One important questions, do you fans and motherboard lights/power leds come on. If so the psu is probably fine.

Do you have any other rig you can test out parts on??
