What can I do?

This past summer I bought a Sager notebook for college. We ended up spending about $1700, and I thought I was pretty set for college. I got an Intel Core Duo T7200 @ 2.00 GHz hard drive, 2 GB memory and Vista Ultimate. I noticed that the computer itself could only come with one graphics card, a VIA Chrome 9 with 260 MB, but I figured that since I'm not a HUGE game player and I was getting an up to date system, I'd be alright. Little did I know...

Recently, I installed The Sims 2 and to my own disbelief, it doesn't run properly. The game is sluggish and the graphics are horrible (instead of a floor tile being its designated pattern, it is one PIXEL of the pattern, same for wall paper). I've already had to send in the computer once because the CD/DVD drive wasn't working at all.

Needless to say I'm really angry/upset. I feel like I should have really looked into this further, but I also feel very betrayed by Sager. I heard a lot of good things about them, but I have seen no such thing. They have been unhelpful and when I emailed them again about the mouse button being stuck down, this is the EXACT email they sent back to me:

"Hannah
There was a problem with your Windows last time when you ship it back, if the game has a compability with Windows Vista, there is no much we can do about it.
The left- clicker is part of the top case, we might have to take a look, if it's broken.
You might also need to back up all you important DATA , reinstall a new Window back to your computer and see if you still have the following problem.

'At startup a black screen appears, something about the wireless card or networking card. Also, the computer has been freezing when it goes to sleep and I have been having major wireless internet problems.'"

Do I have a right to be upset here? Or is this all my own stupidity in trusting a corporation wouldn't screw me over? (By the way, all of my drivers are updated and all new patches of sims has been installed, all to no avail in fixing the game problem). Is there anything I can do? Sager also told me that the graphics card isn't upgradeable because of where it is situated.

Sager notebooks aren't all that great from what I've heard. You coulda gotten a pretty good Dell for that price.

Thats what I would expect, VIA integrated graphics aren't designed for gaming, for $1700 you could have gotten a much better laptop.

I agree. I got a $1200 HP Laptop for my mother, with better specs then the one you got. Sounds like a bit of a rip off if you ask me. I would be calling and geting pretty serious with somone. If you have had the computer for less then a year then you should be able to get somthing done about this issue. I had an HP laptop that I fought and fought with and after the computer was over 3 years old, and nothing was done about the problems that I had, I got on the phone with the right people and I had a brand new top of the line notebook computer built to my liking the exact way I wanted it. You may spend more time on the phone then you choose to but in the long run, you want a good computer, correct?
