What can upgrade for under 300$

I recently purchased 512 mb Ram and a ATI 256 mb graphics card...I have a 2.0 ghz pentium 4 processor, 128 mb ram (in addition to the 512 mb) and everything else stock on a dell deminsion 4550 desktop...Plz tell me some other upgrades for a fast comp for gaming....mostly first person shooters and RTS.:confused:

Well in the PM i would just tell you to look at Question101 :) as for upgrades the 1st thing i would upgrade is the videocard: to at least a 6600-class card
 
well see the thing is i just ordered that the 21st so im gunna stick with that for a while...the main thing im looking for is some RAM advice/deals and some mobo and processor advice...

Whats the chip on it? A 256MB GeForce5200 or GeForce5500 isnt gonna help you much

1. The bottleneck in FPS gaming will be the videocard
2. You wont be able to get significant processor upgrades for that budget (ok so you can buy the processor but you'll also have to get a mobo/psu upgrade which then makes it infeasible)
3. As for RAM, 1GB (which you'll have soon) will be fine ... so it goes back to the videocard :)
 
ok well since i JUST (like 5 days ago) bought the video card im not gunna change that for a lil while...right now i have a 64 mb so its a big improvment for me... and i am gunna get the 512 mb ddr ram too so yea i think im set for a lil while at least...plus i dont have the money to spend on the delux 32435 mb vortex 5423 prceessor with coffe maker right now...(sorry for the sarcasim) but thnx for the advice all and hope to see you on counter strike source/ battlefield 2/ Warcraft 3 TFT!
