So i got a new computer for christmas and i've been researching cards for awhile now, and i'm still unsure what i should get

Here are my specs
i5-655k 3.2gz
Intel Desktop Board DH55TC
4g DDR3 RAM
1TB HDD
Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
350w Powerunit

I know i'll need a new powerunit

i've been looking at the XFX Radeon 6870, is that a good choice?

I'm looking for FPS gaming and MMO's

And what kind of power unit should i get with it? and any cooling percautions?

Thanks,
Bursayi

something around the 550-600W range should be adequate to me...id look at corsair units...their rather solid TX650 would be a good choice

6870 would certainly be a good choice :p, should play just about anything. As for the PSU, Fury had good advice.

One thing to take into consideration, is this a manufactured computer like HP or Dell? I know Dell used to use proprietary mounting power supplies and some of their systems still do, you'll need to determine whether or not your system follows the ATX standard.

lately dells stuff has been more mainstream...i think they decided that &#*#&$*ized hardware setups such as psu's arent necessary...tho i thought some of their designs were very easy to work on...except for their latest series...i think its the inspiron series...harddrives are in the side panel, on their side, their a PITA to get in and out...

Cool. Yea I was a fan of the Dimension 8000 series clamshell cases, those were really easy to get in and work on. Sounds like they've finally come to their senses then and go with the ATX standard. The last Inspiron I worked on even had a standard ATX motherboard, that's refreshing to see from a manufacturer and yes, the harddrives are a PITA to get out, I can relate there :p
