what card is about on-par with my cpu speed. i dont want my cpu to bottleneck (therefore allowing me to buy a cheaper card).

i was thinking something within the 4850's price range... between $150 and $200... but if you guys think my cpu would bottleneck then maybe i'll just wait to build a new computer.

Why not get the 4850? Its a really great card, with probably the best price to performance ratio out there now. And if anything, you can get the card now, and keep it when you upgrade other stuff in your comp/rebuild, It'll still be a great card.

I don't think your CPU would be too much of a bottleneck. I have an 8600 with a 2.6 GHz dual core. Whenever I play I check the task manager and one of the CPU's averages around 75%, and the other one averages around 75%. The 4850 is wayyy better than the 8600GT, so most of the processing power will come from the GPU. I would go for it.

i really dont know right now, im looking at a lot of different stuff online and i think i may just have to wait to build a new computer.

i mean, seriously.. it looks like im going to want to get a core i7, some DDR3, and a new monitor.. on top of a new video card. i may even spend $2000 on my next build but i really gotta start saving if i do.

oh! i also want vista too. that would be helpful lol..

lol, I still dont have vista yet either. I'm definitely in the same boat as you though, lol. Ive been wanting to upgrade everything so bad. It doesnt even perform bad, I just really want to upgrade it, lol. Vista, GPU, CPU, MOBO, prolly another 2 gigs of RAM, and a 500G hard drive

yea i want two 500gb's in raid 0 ... lol i already have 4gb of memory... i really refuse to go dual video cards though just because its so ridiculous and unnecessary, especially as far as power consumption ill probably save money on the electric bill lol
