what computer should i get

Hello, I want to get a desktop as my laptop is limited. I will NOT be doing any videos or editing it will only be for playing games.(Such as Minecraft and steam game`s like g-mod and others.) I would like a powerful computer that get fantastic frame rate on most games on highest settings. Also it will be a Christmas present, there is no real budget, but around £500ish (give or take a few hundred.) Any one that could help i will be very great-full.

Thank you, Keiran.

You ain't going to get the best gaming computer ever for £500 but you can get a decent one.

It also depends where you want to buy from, I've listed some that I'd use for "gaming" perposes below.
I've kind of kept within your £500 range, But for a decent computer, I'd build my own,

These two are both AMD with 8GB DDR3 Ram and 1TB Drive (These two are pretty much the same)
Option 1
Option 2

If you're after intel based
Option 1 - Intel i3, 8GB DDR3 Ram, 500GB Drive (£460 inc VAT (Standard config))
Option 2 - Intel i5, 8GB DDR3 Ram, 1TB Drive, 2GB Radeon (£587.98 inc VAT (With added 1TB Drive)

Thanks for the replies but i`ve been looking on eBay and i have found one that i quite like it seems good but is it. I think that it will be good for gaming but the eight cores i do not know about. Please help.

Ps. my budget is more then £500 it was just arounded figure.

Thanks. keiran

No good.
This do not include Windows, which will be another £70 on top.
And don't say what brand of PSU.

You don't need 16GB RAM and not many game use 8 core.
BTW, if you want it cheap, consider second hand. Look at avforum classified, gumtree, ebay

I have read though the replies and thanks could someone help me on the specs of the computer.
I do not know to go with 8GB of ram or 16GB. I do not know what to do about the Processor or graphics card. I was thinking about the AMD FX 8350 but it has eight cores. As i will only be playing Minecraft g-mod and games like that. I will not record or edit so i would only be playing the game and nothing else (so why all of the cores/ would it be worth future proofing.) Or the intel i5 3570/k. I basicly want the best performance/fps for games on high settings. Graphics, i was thinking about getting AMD R7/R9 graphics card (i will only be using one monitor.).Or a Nvidia GeForce GTX 750 Ti/GeForce GTX 760 or are these too extreme. I need some guidance i will be mainly on the internet and playing minecraft with mods, shader packs, resource packs.

Please correct me if (any of the listed above) are too good or too bad and if there are any recommendations please tell me. I started off thinking i was going to to build my own but, i dismantled a old compaq (took everything off cleaned everything) put it all together turned it on any it was on but the screen was black and the fans got faster and faster then just burnt out the motors and melted the motherboard since then i do not trust my self with building a new expensive tower. So pre-built would be preferred.

The only thing wrong with my current laptop is that it is a laptop, and is not built for performance and only at only has 1.5GHz.
My current laptop is a:
Packard-bell Easynote TE69KB series
AMD quadcore A4-5000
AMD Radeon HD 8330
8Gb DDR3
1000Gb HDD
1.5GHz

Thanks for reading, Keiran Ps, sorry it was so long. :)

8GB of RAM is plenty, and you can always add more later very easily.

If that's all you're doing just get an i3 and a 750TI and you should be set. Don't need to blow a boatload of cash for Minecraft and older source games.

Thanks but what i3 and if I did get any new games such as a very graphical intensive game what used lots of cpu power would it still be able to run it on high settings. I think it would limit what games I could play. I want to sort of future proof it and down when games relly on cpu would it be able to cope.

Thanks, keiran.

get a i5 3570k very fast cpu, and even if you are going to play other games in the future still fast enough, memory 8gb is good, and as a card, gtx 760, the 750 is a good card, but only has 128bith bandwith

The i5 3570K is still good but it's 2 years old. If you want an i5 I would look at getting a nw 4670K and a socket 1150 board.
