What could be causing this?

I have SBC global DSL. However, every CS:S server that I go in to kicks me because my ping is too high. I close out all of the programs that use the internet (limewire, MSN, etc) before I play, but my ping (or latency) is still really high.

Anytime you have p2p, file sharing apps, they hog your bandwich. First make sure none of those programs are set to automaticly load when your computer boots. Chances are that when you quit the application, lkike limewire, it is still runing in the background, or ceratian process affiliated with the application are still running. You can press ctrl+alt+del to check task manager/processes and make sure theres nothing running that might use up your bandwitch.

You might have spyware(alllot) running in the backround.

If you're not using Limewire Pro, all the adware that's installed with it will be using it. Just pay for Pro

I right-click on limewire in the system tray and click on "exit". I completely closes it out (so it's not running in the background) and I do a spyware check every day and delete whatever's on there.
