What could/should I have got?

Well I've already spent my $1000 (a little over) on my computer..but I now know more about computers/manufactures then I did then (I was an idiot and went with Dell.....)

So now I'm curious, what Could I/Should I have went with?

Basically just build the best computer you can for around $1000-$1100. Monitor, speakers, mouse, and keyboard arent needed.

Q6600- $300
Asus Pk5 or P35 Ds3- 'round $100
2Gb of namebrand PC6400 RAM- $100, give or take
Case+new PSU- $150 maybe
250Gb HDD- Hmm.. $60
8800gts 320Mb-$300
Dvd-drive- $20-30

and you can trade in the q6600 for a e6300, tone down the case, and get A nice Lcd monitor...

Um. I missing something? I sometimes forget components, i dunno.
