Well I wanna get a new cpu preferably i7 but I render like 3 or so HD videos all at once and do high end hd gaming I prefer not to get an AMD cpu as I do not really like them I have a Phenom 2 quad core it doesnt cut it

for video editing, I would say the easiest route would be to get a 1090T thuban Hexcore AMD (more cores the better with editing), or upgrade to a P67 or Z68 motherboard and a i7-2600k. Either way overclocking it will be easy and net some impressive gains.

or wait a week or 2 and upgrade to an am3+ socket board and get a octuple core bulldozer :D, that would prob be the most beneficial since i7 is 4 cores threaded as 8, 1090t is 6 cors, 8150p is 8 cores.

false. Its more like 4 modules. so about the same performance as 6 true cores or so. Each module is somewhere higher than a single core, but lower than a true dual. So.. about 1.5 (more or less) cores. 4*(3/2)=6. So its about the same performance as a Hex core currently, assuming that they dont pull a mind blowing performance out of their ass. Which I doubt from AMD at this point.

well it depends on which part of the cpu is used, they duplicated most of the parts, but left out 2 or 3, so really we'll just have to wait and see for that, it could rape or it could get raped by the others, only time will tell, unless someone here has gotten the 6100 from tigerdirect and could do a few benches and tell us then just multi that by 1.33 and see how it stacks to the others, really just the 6100 v the 1090t would tell us plenty.

well even with a 2500k editing 3 full had videos at once might strain it a little, video stuff is very demanding, and you know a six core i7 starts in like the 5 or 600's don't you, then it jumps up to 1k, and all the hexa's are on a dead socket while the quad i7's on the 1155 socket are still going to recieve the 22nm ivy bridge cpu next year.

Man I wish I had an extra $4,000 in savings for a new car. Spend less than $2,000 for a new desktop computer. Spending more will not get you anything extra, it will only cost more.

I got a free car Grandpa gave it to me I need a new desktop anyways I am an animator going to college for it just got this one last year dont really think its as fast it needs to be so my job kinda literally depends on it

You can get one real powerful system for $1,500. If you wanted to buy a quality monitor it may raise the price up to around $2,000.

Processor - $275
Motherboard - $250
RAM - $125
Operating System - $100
DVD drive - $35
Computer Case - $90
Video Card - $310
Two Hard Drives - $120
Solid State Drive - $150
Shipping - $45

A Blu-ray drive may add another $60 to the price. $1,560 will buy you one really powerful machine.

Intel's $1,000 processors are ridiculously over priced. Spending over $350 on a video card is also pointless to me as well. The extra $$$ put out than what I previously mentioned is just not worth it. If you want a lot of storage space buy three hard drives for $60 each. 3 Terabytes is a good amount of storage space.

These hard drives are good quality:

SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 HD103SJ 1 Terabyte 7200 RPM 32 megabytes of Cache Serial ATA Hard Drive - $60

really if you look at it the 990x is slower at everything other than this one subject, so for you it might help some but it's still not worth the extra 700 pricetag. why don't you go to the desktop computers section and create a build thread with the info on what you want and we can get more opinions and more suggestions.
