what difference is there between boards that support the same stuff???

How much difference doses the mother board make to the performance of a pc if it supports the stuff you want it to (AM2 and sli for example)?

Chipset (Northbridge/Southbridge), BIOS (Overclocking/other options), Cooling for chipsets, manufacturer, quality, SATA, RAID, SCSI, ect.
