No program is 100 percent effective. Mainly what you need to know is how to safely surf the web. Stay away from porn sites. Use either AVAST or Microsoft Security Essentials as your virus/malware protection. I would also suggest to use the paid version of malwarebytes as it provides realtime protection from malware being installed on your system.

The only program that's worth buying is Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. If you dont want to pay for it you can also use it for free but it has limited options. Another good one is Superantispyware. Same thing applies here too. Also you can take a look here:

So if I purchase Malwarebytes for $25 is it going to keep me protected against all kinds of malware (inlcuding spyware, adware, viruses, trojans) in real time? And is it only 1-year subscription? How much better is it than Microsoft Security Essentials which is also a real-time thing..?

It's a one time fee of 24.95. LIke I said no program if 100 percent effective. If there is a brand new infection out that malwarebytes don't have the definitions for then it won't protect you. But I will say this... Malwarebytes does stay on top of new infections and immediately get their program database updated so that its users are protected.
