What do you think of this motherboard? EVGA Z68 SLI Micro 120-SB-E682-KR

what are you needing 32gb for? and you pretty much will have to go to the FTW to get 32gb supported.

I've seen a lot of them with 32GB. Trust me, I would use it. I do graphics and video editing. But I would start out with 16GB like I have in my laptop (I can have up to 32GB in my laptop) and later I will get the other two 8GB cards.

I am not saying it is impossible. You linked a Z68 EVGA motherboard. You need to go to the FTW to get a good quality EVGA board that supports it. Or you could look at the Asus P8P67 WS or maybe a Gigabyte Z68 UD5 or above.

Someone else recommended this board; they said it's a lot better: GIGABYTE GA-Z77X-UD3H

I think I'm going to get it instead. Plus it's Ivy-Bridge compatible so it's good for future upgrades.

Plz we're discussing about this in 2 different threads. We recommended you the z77X ud3h already.
Also, don't take a sandy bridge if you got the choice between sandy and ivy.

I would still go for the UD5H in Z77 over the UD3H. Much better board with much better phase design.

Ok I will take a look at the UD5H.

You neglect that for a lesser performance Ivy Bridge, it is about $100 more expensive than a higher performance Sandy Bridge.
I looked at all the benchmarks and saw that it's better to get Sandy Bridge since I don't want to spend $350 on the processor.

Were do you have "less performance then Sandy bridge" from lol..
And I doubt ivy bridge is that much more expensive.
Thought an i7 3770k was around 300$.

They are exactly the same price. However the "upgrades" of the IB processors are not worth the upgrade making them use a higher end cooling solution to match work demand (you do the same work 200MHz slower). I personally would go SB or AMD. IB is not worth the time you have to put into it.

If he isn't overclocking over 4.6ghz, I would say IB.
And certainly don't get amd if you got the money to go Intel...

No, they are not. Not even close.
$320 for the 3770K vs
$240 for 2600K
= $80 price difference.

Update: I just saw that Newegg has the 2600K for $320 but it is way overpriced. Elsewhere it is $80 less.
Update: Ok I saw where it is less, it is used. But you can't find a used 3770K.

You get what you pay for, the Ivy Bridges consume less power than the Sandy Bridge chips, and are a little more efficient when doing work, performance differences between the two is negligible to me.
