What does DVI stand for and are they better than the standard jack?

DVI (digital video interface) vs VGA (anaglog) differences on various monitors, it's going to depend on the monitor and what you use it for. If you get an expensive LCD monitor, which can fully utilize the digital input, then it will probably be a better viewing experience with a digital signal. But other than that, I don't know that I've noticed the difference much.

In the end DVI is the better choice.
