What exactly are 64 bit OS's good at?

Can someone give me an example of a particular application that runs faster in a 64 bit OS environment? What apps are out there that are 64 bit?

Hmmm. I don't do that. I'm wondering if I'm in the wrong OS now. Using Vista Home Premium 64 bit, and not sure that I should be. If you run primarily 32 bit apps/games, then you are better off in 32 bit OS, right?

Well 64bit allows you to use over 4 gig of ram in your pc. 32 bit is a let down especially if you say have a 512mb graphics card and 4gig of ram then you would only use about 3 gig of ram and 512 of graphics card. Also 64bit is the future.

that was about a generic response

32 bit apps still run better in 32 bit windows, so if you don't use 64-bit apps, there's no reason to be using the 64-bit o/s

i mean, hydrogen cars might be the future, but if there isn't a fueling station in your area, it's still a pretty lousy investment

I don't think the RAM limit is a combination of video and system memory, unless you are using a shared video solution.

I've seen the "can't use over 4GB" comment several times before. I can guarantee you that this computer will never have or need over 4GB.
