What graphics card can my computer handle?

I just recently bought this power supply

I have dual core 3 ghz intel
and 2046MB of decent ddr2 RAM
i have a 250 gb hitachi and a 1 tb hitachi hd (duno if u need this info but i thought i might as well include it in case it would affect how much power is left for the graphics card, if thats even a factor(im a noob:P))

So i was wondering wat is the best graphics card i can run with my current set up. I know more about GeForce cards but Radeon cards are fine too.

any card will work on that motherboard, and the psu is good enough for a high end card

but i´m not too sure about a 4870 x2 or something like that
 
I have the same PSU, it's rock solid (And one review site tested it, it went up to 720W consumption before going boom, but don't try that at home ;) ) I personally wouldnt try running SLi/CrossFireX on it but apart from that, it's a good PSU

Oh and you might want to refrain from insane liquid cooled overclocking, ;)
 
You'll be able to put pretty much any single card in there. I would avoid any "X2" cards out there (possible, but pushing it a bit), but other than that, you're golden.

Then again, I'm not sure which Intel CPU you have. Not exactly descriptive there...depending on what it is, it may bottleneck your video card, meaning that even if you get a great one, it won't show much performance increases from a lesser card since the CPU is limiting it.

What resolution does your monitor run at? If it's a typical 22" widescreen, for example, it's probably running at a native resolution of 1680x1050. In that case, the Radeon 4850 or Geforce 9800 GTX(+) would probably be a good place to start, depending on your brand preference.
