what graphics should i expect with this vid card?

i am purchasing a new video card from newegg.com and want to know what to expect...

video card: sapphire x800gto agp

processor?:64 athlon? (it was a gift)

ram: 512mb

resolution: 1024/800
 
get the x1800gto, its newer.
the x800gto will play any game you like though... neither of them will give you amazing results but they're definitely good cards for the money. in general you get out of it what you put into it. unless the card is a gift... then you dont have to put anything into it! lol
 
I would suggest Nvidia for high-end, and if you want to go crazy get two SLI-ready 7900s, that'll do the trick- on one you can crank BF2 :). For ATI grab the x1900, but I'll warn you the fan is known to spin up loud during stressed times. Essentially it's up to preference for ATi or Nvidia, either way just get something non-sapphire or eVGA (go BFG). My friend recently got a BFG 7600GT - does pretty darn good if you ask me, he plays Guild Wars cranked on 1600 x 1050.

i have the x850pro and it plays it just about maxed out, so you should be somewhere near max with that card.

thanks everyone, unfortunately, all i can afford is the x800gto... maybe, when i need it, i'll unlock the extra four pipes... that'll make it a x800xt right? thanks for answering my question

That was more so the case with the older x800GTO's, the new ones are laser cut so its virtually impossible to unlock it. However the x800GTO2's are unlockable.

Unfortunately it can't be unlocked. Consider a 7600GS at the same price point, or a 7600GT for a little more. The X800GTO2 is WAY overpriced. An X850XT is actually cheaper.
