About a week ago I set up a wireless internet connection at home and I could get internet on both computers but today it stopped on one. And it wasnt the one getting the wireless connection but the one sending it. My laptop still has internet working fine. But the desktop cant get anything type of connection going, not firefox, not MSN, not limewire. can anyone suggest anything?
I've tried restarting the computer and I've disconected and reconnected all cords to no avail.
Please my dad isn't happy he cant get emails lol.

Have you tried re-configuring the wired connection usually through pinging the router address in a web browser, usually when mine fails I re-enter my setup info or disable then re-enable the hardware firewall in the router as this sometimes plays up, have you tried looking in your LAN connection properties and making sure your internet has not been disabled or that LAN has been disbaled all together, there is a box you can tick which says "protect my computer by not allowing this computer to connect to the internet" also have you tried disbaling any security software running.

Sorry mate I have no idea what you mean could you please explain to me simplyly as I have a very crappy computer knowlegde, sorry.

Hi,

What I mean is when you first set up the connection with the wired/wireless router you will have inputed some info related to your internet account such as you password from and user name with your ISP, I would suggest trying to re-enter this information whilst wired up to the router with the wired computer, basically leave the cables as they are plugged in but go through the configuration or setup again.

Usually setup includes opening internet explorer or firefox or whatever else you use and typing something along the lines of "192.168.2.1" this is the address of the router and when you type this in the browser it will open a setup page in the browser and you can complete configuration from there.

Refer to the install guide on the router, there can't be much wrong if the wireless connection works and the wired one don't.

if what mikekelly suggested doesn't work try resetting the router, there will probably be a really small hole round the back whihc you can push a pen into to reset all the settings, it seemsodd that your laptop is working but desktop isn't

Also check that there are no firewalls on the desktop blocking the network connection, or any settings in the router configuration
