i modded my 7600gt with the pencil but everything was fine it botted but when i was using the multimeter i think the metal end toched something elese and my pc went off.So i unplugded the power cable and plug it back in and i turn the pc and i spark comes off and i smell something. So i take out the graphic card and boot the system and i booted into windows because i hear the start up sound and i think everything worked exept the graphic card.So what do you think my whole pc works exept the graphic card right? And i didnt put back the graphic card in back yet i dont know what to do?Could it have burned?

What where you testing with the multi meter? Was it close to the GPU? Can you find any burnt places on the GPU or smell anything on the GPU itself? I can't see too much hard trying the GPU one last time, but of course if it doesn't work right off, don't keep trying...

what do you meen you were using the multiplier?if you changed any settings change it back. try 1 more time but make sure its not touching anything else also look specificly were sparks are coming out of

He said multimeter, not multiplier lol. He was mesuring Volts prolly while doing a pencil mod.

DKdeadly, IMO if I were in your shoes, I wouldn't try putting that card back in, unless you're willing to risk more damage to your PC.

Do you have an old crap computer to test the vid card in?
Just in case something happens :]
Seems like a waste of a vid card, if there is nothing wrong with it.

well guys i was a dik and i put it back in and the card cought on fire but i turned the whole pc down and booted without the graphic card and pc still boot to windows because i hear the start up sound.

But the 7600gt is smoked will evga take it for repair?

Probably not since you tried to mod it, I think that voids the warranty.

*EDIT*
Do an "as-is" sale on ebay, lol :]

"I don't know the working condition on it as it hasn't been booted to windows in a few days, but it ran several days ago just fine"
