What happens when hard drive space runs out

So in my main hard drive I have 29 GB memory left from 288 GB. I also have a secondary hard drive installed that has 805 GB free from 931 GB.

In the main hard drive why does the memory keep going down, when to the best of my knowledge I am not downloading anything to it ? What exactly is going to happen when it goes down to 0 , will it automatically switch to the secondary hard drive for storage space ? How can I free up space for the main hard drive ?

No, it will not automatically go to the other drive. Do you have any personal data(pictures, music, documents) on the drive that is almost full? If so, then transfer it to the other drive. When you save stuff to your user folder where does it get saved to? You can always change the drive to where you user folders are stored.

Is there anyway of telling the computer to download everything in the future to the secondary hard drive instead of on an individual basis ? Also how would I transfer all the pictures at once to the other drive instead of one at time which would take too long ?

Thats why I asked you if you had personal files stored on the drive that is getting full. If you go into your user folder and change the directory where the pictures, music, documents, downloads are stored then they will automatically go there when you place them there. See image.

Just right click on each of the main folders and change the storage location. When you change it to the other drive it will ask you if you want to move all files in that folder, choose yes. Just change the front drive letter to whatever the other drive is labeled.

Hi John, as you are well aware that I am not very tech savvy, lol ,I ended up calling my ISP tech support . The problem is that they only transferred over 2 GB from the main drive to the secondary drive. I would have liked to transfer over 100 GB . Now there is 31 GB available space left on the Drive instead of 29 GB. I guess I will leave it for now until it becomes an issue that needs to be dealt with .

If you want, we can always use teamviewer so I can log into your system remotely and do this for you. Let me know.
